Billboards
New montages, although my initial thoughts were based on work by David Bailey 30 years ago, once the studio images had been shot I woke up the following day and shot the billboards, and constructed the images here the same day. What struck me as I was doing this was the extent to which advertising gets involved in our everyday lives and how it's taken for granted. Whilst doing these images what struck me was how advertising fills every unused space, from organised billboards and posters to graffiti, with someone else wanting to tell you or sell you at every opportunity. Advertising fills urban spaces like brambles and weeds fill corners, edges and scrub in nature.
